Have you ever had one of those weeks where you were too exhausted to even heat up leftovers, let alone cook?
This past month I’ve had nothing but research papers to write and PowerPoint presentations on both of them which has been taking up my afternoons, evenings and weekends. In the middle of all this, I was sick with the flu and had to take a day off to languish on the couch and sigh. Mr. Cottage Heaven was wonderful at looking after me and doing all the housework, laundry and cooking. Although I think it was more to get me back to school FAST, than about my actual wellbeing :). I am not a very good patient and, apparently, whined a lot – although I don’t remember that part! His ministrations worked and I was back to school the next day. I managed to finish the paper and the presentation. I find that the more I do the presentations, the more confident I become and no longer shrink away from public speaking – too much. I think it also helps to do a power point presentation so that the audience has something else to look at other than me! J
By Friday, I was so exhausted, I could barely stay awake at 5:00 pm! And so begun the weekend of take out, junk food and eating out. Pizza on Friday night (of course!) and an assortment of junk food on Saturday while watching a movie
followed by Nando’s for supper (I LOVE Nando’s). Sunday morning saw us at a new breakfast location (well, new to us), Cora’s, which has become our favourite breakfast restaurant.
Cappuccino coffee, Eggs benedict and fruit so beautifully presented I almost didn’t want to eat it! But I soon got over that.
It was easy to do nothing all weekend as it snowed non-stop the entire time
I still haven’t managed to get any Etsy stuff done, but I have some ideas for some beautiful tea towels and will get started on those tomorrow. I love them so much, I will make a few for myself as well.
Well, they say that time flies when you’re having fun, but I’ll tell ya something … time also flies when you’re working.
These past two weeks have been pretty challenging for me and taken me waaay out of my comfort zone. I was given a case study where I had to research the international market for a fictitious company and then write a 30-page report on it. To make matters worse, I have to do a PowerPoint presentation in class. Tomorrow. Yikes!!
Mr. long-suffering Cottage Heaven has been amazing – he’s listened patiently to my rantings and watched silently while I turned into a blithering idiot barely able to string a sentence together, all the while making supper every night and helping me make sense of it all.
I haven’t managed to make anything new for my Etsy shop. I’m brimming with ideas and can’t wait to get at least ONE thing done. Hopefully over the lovely, long weekend.
I did learn something new this afternoon. I learned how to add a Facebook like box to my blog. I’m not sure I like it, but I am happy that I learned how to do it.
It’s been freezing here in Vancouver these past few days. The rest of Canada calls us “weather wimps” because we complain when the temperature gets to zero deg. C. The last two days has been -15 with the wind chill and, honestly, I’m not geared up for it! I discovered that none of my sweaters were warm enough and I had to dig out a scarf and woollen hat from … oh wait, I didn’t have to dig at all – it was in my new drawer-organizer thingy I bought for the coat closet in my entry way last month. 🙂
I’ve added a few more things to it since this photo was taken. The new system is working pretty well and I’ve managed to find my sunglasses and keys every single day, no problem. The weather’s going to get worse before it gets better, but by Monday, it should start warming up again. I sure hope so as it’s getting a bit old being cooped up inside. I want to get outside in the fresh air and start growing vegetables and herbs and other lovely things!
Well, that’s about it from me. I hope the rest of the week treats you well and that you all have a good weekend.
I’m hoping to post some pictures of my new place mats, if I get round to it. My dining area needs a good clean. I spent so long cleaning the kitchen last weekend that I didn’t get to the dining area at all!
Cheers for now.
